5th Edition of the Albufeira Meeting by AP Victoria Sports Establishes Itself as a Benchmark in National and International Athletics
Albufeira will host, on May 3rd, the 5th edition of the Albufeira Meeting by AP Victoria Sports—an event already well established within the national sports landscape and integrated into the Portugal 2026 Athletics Meetings Circuit, standing as an official competition on the national athletics calendar.
Held at the iconic Açoteias athletics track, this meeting is increasingly positioning itself as a reference event, bringing together high-level athletes in a venue renowned for its excellence in sports practice.
The event is organized by the Algarve Athletics Association, with institutional support from Albufeira City Council, an active partner since the first edition and a key contributor to the event’s sustained growth.
This is an outdoor track and field competition featuring a wide range of disciplines, including sprints, hurdles, middle-distance, long-distance, jumps, and throws. The event will welcome both national and international athletes, representing more than 20 nationalities, reinforcing its global and competitive character.
Beyond its competitive dimension, the meeting also plays a strategic role in promoting Albufeira as a leading destination for sports training camps, with athletes frequently staying before and after the competition. Results achieved are officially recognized, contributing to national and international rankings, as well as qualification for global competitions.
From a competitive standpoint, the Albufeira Meeting marks the opening of the outdoor season within the national circuit, standing out for its high technical level and demanding standards. The prize system includes prize money linked to both national and international circuits, points towards the World Athletics individual ranking, and medals awarded to the top three finishers in each category, both male and female.
