AP MARIA NOVA LOUNGE HOSTS INTERNATIONAL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

The AP Maria Nova Lounge received, on last December 3rd, the 1st International Chess Championship, CHESS FEST’22 TAVIRA, with the participation of 30 players from Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Ukraine and Bulgaria, registered in the International Chess Federation.
The tournament, of semi-fast games, took place at Sala Ria I, and was sponsored by Casa das Artes de Tavira, in addition to the partnership with AP Maria Nova Lounge, and was organised by Clube Recreativo Fuzetense.
The Tavira Municipality, União de Freguesias, ACXA – Associação de Clubes de Xadrez do Algarve and Rádio Gilão also supported this championship.
The tournament had very significant prizes and was won by André Dionísio, from Associação Académica de Coimbra.
Dutch player Ada Leona van der Giessen won the women’s prize, entitled Raquel Delgado Martins.
The main prizes were delivered by the Vice Mayor of Tavira, Eurico Palma, the president of the Union of Parishes, José Mateus, presidents of several chess clubs in the Algarve and the director of AP Maria Nova Lounge, Xisco Homs.
The AP Maria Nova Lounge was congratulated by the participants and the organisation for the quality of the tournament venue and for the excellent hospitality that characterises the hotels of the AP Hotels & Resorts group.
