STORY’S PROTAGONISTS STAYING AT AP EVA SENSES

The group of military divers who rescued the remains of the American airmen who crashed into the sea off Praia de Faro in November 1943, during World War II, as well as the support team, stayed at AP Eva Senses for 21 days.

The group of three soldiers and support staff, a total of 19 people, worked to rescue the remains of the airmen, in an accident in which five of them survived, saved by three fishermen from Faro.

The work began on September 1 and was completed on September 21.

The mission was carried out by Ships of Discovery, an American non-profit association dedicated to the discovery of shipwrecks and ships, in collaboration with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Mission (DPAA), the military agency of the US Department of Defense that aims to locate and recover American prisoners of war and missing in action.
