Christmas Market takes place between Praça da Liberdade, Largo Maestro José Pedro and Porta Mexia Galvão
Between the 6th and 23rd of December, Viana do Castelo has a Christmas Market that takes place between the tent installed in Praça da Liberdade, Largo Maestro José Pedro and Porta Mexia Galvão. There will be 31 exhibitors who will be spread across the three spaces over the two weeks, presenting proposals for all tastes.
The Christmas Market is promoted as part of the “Viana Coração do Natal” program, run by Viana do Castelo City Hall and the Viana do Castelo District Business Association, in partnership with Vianafestas, and takes place on Fridays and Saturdays, in the three locations, from 12pm to 11pm, and from Sunday to Thursday, from 3pm to 8pm.
A wide range of items will be on sale at Praça da Liberdade, including gifts, decoration, handicrafts and seasonal sweets. Thus, the two dozen traders will have available paintings on painted canvas, paintings on gourds with Christmas and Minho motifs, wooden artefacts, certified figures, handcrafted soaps, artistic jewelry in polymer clay, biscuit items, nativity scenes and dolls inspired by Minho, decorative pieces and crochet accessories, Christmas arrangements and candles, various festive season decorations, cloth dolls and paper pulp figures, among others.
In the Praça da Liberdade tent you can also find cakes, brigadeiros, savory snacks, jellies, dried fruits, liqueurs, granolas, honey and derivatives, macarons, bonbocas, chocolates, ‘American cookies’, seasonal desserts, hot chocolate, French toast, wine , among much more.
Crepes and waffles, liqueurs and artisanal jellies, teas, mulled wine and chocolates, nativity scenes, textiles and toys, as well as various Christmas decorations will be available at Largo Maestro José Pedro.
At Porta Mexia Galvão, locals and visitors can find wooden board games, decorative items, homemade jams and liqueurs, desserts, mulled wine and hot chocolate, smoked meats and traditional cheeses.
