Porto Covo

Porto Covo is a beautiful fishing village that is part of Sines, and is a fantastic place to visit during your holiday on the Alentejo Coast.

It is in Porto Covo that the main beaches of the Costa Vicentina are located, such as the Pessegueiro Island beach which begins the stage of the Rota Vicentina between Porto Covo and Cabo de São Vicente (this stage is a combination of the famous Fisherman’s Trail with the Historical Path).

Also in Porto Covo you can enjoy part of the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano, known for being the best preserved stretch of European coastline. Here you will find several species of fauna, flora and birds, especially the rare fish eagles and white storks.

In this Park you can also catch a glimpse of craggy cliffs that are authentic beauties of nature.

However, it is not just the Beaches and Natural Parks that are responsible for the beauty of Porto Covo. The village center is also a beautiful place to visit.

Known as Largo Marquês de Pombal, the center of Porto Covo is a square inspired by the Pombaline style that features a square full of good restaurants, souvenir shops and a Church dedicated to Our Lady of Soledade (patron saint of fishermen).

Therefore, if you like contact with nature and getting to know historical sites in Portugal, Porto Covo is, without a doubt, a place to include in your itinerary of what to visit in Sines.

Porto Covo is located 16km from Hotel AP Sines. There are routes with unmissable landscapes and ecological trails between Sines and Porco Covo.
