AP Hotels & Resorts Group receives Green Key award

The AP Hotels & Resorts group is pleased to announce that all nine of its hotels, located in the Algarve, Alentejo, and northern Portugal, have been awarded Green Key certification.

Green Key is a prestigious international award that distinguishes tourist establishments, local accommodation, campsites, restaurants, and conference centers that stand out for their adoption of responsible environmental and social practices. The program values the sustainable management of spaces and encourages the promotion of environmental education among employees, customers, and communities, contributing to increasingly conscious and environmentally friendly tourism.

Created by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), based in Denmark, and coordinated in Portugal by the Blue Flag Association for Environment and Education (ABAAE), Green Key has the support of several public and private entities. The program’s main objectives are to reduce the environmental impact of tourism activities, increase efficiency in the use of natural resources, strengthen green marketing strategies, and encourage the continuous improvement of organizations, in line with the principles of sustainable development.

Emanuel Freitas, general manager of the AP Hotels & Resorts group, states that “it is with great pride that we receive the Green Key distinction in all of the group’s units. This international recognition is proof of our teams’ strong daily commitment to implementing responsible and sustainable practices that go far beyond compliance with standards—they are already part of our culture and the way we view hospitality.

At AP Hotels & Resorts, we believe that the future of tourism inevitably lies in sustainability. Being honored with this award reinforces our commitment to reducing our environmental impact, preserving natural resources, and offering quality experiences that respect the planet. It is another step we are taking to consolidate our role as an environmentally friendly and socially responsible hotel group.”
