AP MARIA NOVA LOUNGE ORGANIZES CLUBE DE CICLISMO DE TAVIRA DINNER
The Clube de Ciclismo de Tavira held last October 1 its end of season dinner at the Balsa restaurant in AP Maria Nova Lounge, in a festive atmosphere and to celebrate another year of competition of the club that has the oldest professional cycling team in the world, in uninterrupted activity.
The event, which brought together more than a hundred people, was attended by the mayor of Tavira, Ana Paula Martins, the president of the Municipal Assembly, José Guerreiro, as well as councillors and mayors, and other individuals of the county,
The main sponsors were also represented, with Joana Queiroz, from the company Tuna General Ramirez and António Parente, as host, chairman of the Madre Group, which is part of the AP Hotels & Resorts group, as well as the president of the Club, Marcelino Teixeira, the technical director, Vidal Fitas and cyclists, with highlight to Alejandro Marque, who left this year the activity and was the main honoured of the night.
At the end of the excellent dinner, António Parente considered the sponsorship to the cycling team as “important”, since “it brings us even closer to Tavira”, thus expressing the will to continue sponsoring the team.
António Parente also announced that a book about the History of Tavira will be presented soon and, next year, another one about the History of Cycling in Tavira.
The mayor of Tavira highlighted the role of the Clube de Ciclismo de Tavira at a local and national level, and especially its importance in the development of sport in the region, considering Tavira “the capital of cycling”.
The cyclist Alejandro Marque was one of the honoured of the night, both by the club and by the City Council, whose Municipal Assembly unanimously approved a vote of praise for the career of the cyclist who, among other titles, won a Tour of Portugal in 2013.
